Info

Building on our earlier VR assembly system, we created a specialized VR training experience focused on machine maintenance — starting with a CNC drill change scenario.

Set in an abstract, distraction-free environment, the simulation gave users everything they needed: a realistic CNC machine, all relevant tools, and a hands-on workflow to guide them through the maintenance process. A new inventory system let users store and retrieve tools as needed — adding another layer of realism and complexity to the task.

Performance was tracked in real time via a scoreboard connected to an SAP cloud backend, allowing companies to monitor progress, identify gaps, and keep records for certification. We also added support for multiple VR headsets, making the system more accessible and hardware-flexible.

Later on, we introduced a cooperation module, enabling two users to work together on the same machine in tandem — a powerful feature for training real-world team scenarios.

This project showed how VR can go beyond solo simulation and into collaborative, skill-based learning — where accuracy, timing, and communication all matter.
